Polish Constitution Day Parade - 2009

This year's Chicago celebration of the Polish Constitution of 1791 will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 with another massive parade on Columbus Drive in Grant Park on Chicago's beautiful lakefront. This 118th Chicago parade in honor of this historic document, the first democratic constitution in Europe and second in the world only to the United States Constitution is once again expected to draw 250,000 eager revelers to the lakefront and untold thousands more to the television coverage of the parade expected to once again be provided by CBS-2 and ABC-7.

Parade application forms required for all who wish to participate in the parade, "Participant Information Forms" required for all vehicles participating in the parade and copies of the city regulations governing parades are available on this website.

 The Grand Marshal and the Theme of the 2009 Parade

The Polish Constitution Day Parade Committee wishes to notify all interested parties that it shall be accepting nominations for the Grand Marshal of the 2009 Parade.  Candidates should be of Polish descent and have rendered notable service to Polonia.

Nominations should be in writing and include the name of the nominee and a brief description of his/her accomplishments, as well as the name and contact information of the person or organization submitting the nomination.  Nominations will be accepted from organizations and individuals.  All nominations may be submitted in person at the general open parade meeting on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM at the Alliance of Polish Clubs, 5835 W. Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL. by mail or by fax to 773-745-7278. All candidates will be screened by a Nomination Committee which will choose two or three finalists.  Final voting for the Grand Marshal will be held at the general Parade meeting in March 2009.

The Parade Committee is also accepting proposals for the theme of this year’s parade.  Written suggestions must be accompanied by a brief explanation and be submitted by mail or fax to the May 3 Parade Committee, Alliance of Polish Clubs, 5835 W. Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL 60639, or faxed to 773-745-7278.  Final suggestions will be presented for a vote at a Special Open Meeting at a date to be announced.
